A study done by researchers shows a reduction of type 2 diabetes risk of patients with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) exercise. The training also shows improvement in heart and metabolic health, body measurements, insulin resistance and reduction in systolic blood pressure.
Researchers have conducted studies with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to find out health benefits among 40 sedentary adult women who are at risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D) or high blood sugar (or glucose) levels.
After 10 weeks of HIIT fitness training, researchers found that the HIIT workout will help in improving the cardiometabolic health of type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. They also found that the highest type 2 diabetes (T2D) risk individuals will get maximum health benefits. The study results with just 10 weeks of HIIT exercise training shows
The study findings were published on July 6, 2017, in the journal Frontiers in Physiology. Title of the article was "Prevalence of Non-responders for Glucose Control Markers after 10 Weeks of High-Intensity Interval Training in Adult Women with Higher and Lower Insulin Resistance."
A study done by Dr. Patricia Wu, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine, the University of California says higher incidents of thyroid problems (particularly hypothyroidism) among type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. Hypothyroidism is a life-threatening condition associated with the thyroid gland. The increased risk of hypothyroidism exists even to the type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients as body immune system attacks and destroys the cells of the thyroid gland. But experts are not clear on how type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients get complications with thyroid. There is no cure for both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism but these conditions can be treated with tablets.
Hypothyroidism : Hypothyroidism (also known as underactive thyroid or low thyroid) condition occurs when thyroid fails in producing thyroid hormone required for the functioning of chemical reactions in the body. Particularly among women aged more than 60 years are at risk of hypothyroidism. If untreated, hypothyroidism causes heart diseases, swelling in the front part of the neck (goitre or goiter), infertility, constipation, depression, joint pains and obesity. Hypothyroidism condition arises due to less consumption of iodine.
Immune system : Immune system defends our body from infections caused due to tiny foreign invaders such as parasites, bacteria and fungi. The immune system can be improved by eating food containing whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruit, vegetables, low saturated fat food, no tobacco usage, daily physical exercise, maintaining healthy body weight or body mass index (BMI). The immune system also requires vitamin C to boost immune system & protect it from its deficiencies, vitamin E to get the strength to fight against infections and vitamin B6 to support biochemical reactions in our immune system. Consumption of refined sugar weakens our immune system.
