A study by the Joslin Diabetes Center, Boston on patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) shows decline in estimated glomerular filtration (eGFR) rate is linear in 87 percent of the patients and accelerating and decelerating in six and seven percent of the patients respectively. Researchers conducted an observational study on 364 patients with type 1 diabetes having End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) between 1991 and 2013. Dr. Jan Skupien, M.D. participated in this study and the study results were published in Diabetes Care .
